Title: Theta operators for unitary Shimura varieties

Abstract: Theta operators are differential operators on modular forms in positive characteristic (or over p-adic fields). They play an important role in the connection between modular forms and Galois representations and in construction of p-adic families of modular forms. In this talk I will describe the construction of such operators for unitary Shimura varieties. Both the construction and the proofs of the main properties rely very much on the geometry of these varieties. This is joint work with Ehud De Shalit (Hebrew University).
