Title: On the factorisation of automorphic periods

Abstract: The question on the factorization of automorphic periods was initiated by Shimura where periods refer to the Petersson inner products of algebraic forms on quaternion algebras. In this talk, we will explain a generalisation of this conjecture and its proof using special values of L-functions. We will also explain how to read this factorization in the motivic point of view.
