Jarod Alper will speak on  Applications to the moduli of vector bundles on a curve

It is a classical result that the moduli space of semistable vector bundles of fixed rank and degree on a curve is a projective variety.  As a way to illustrate the intrinsic approach to moduli outlined in these lectures, we will outline how to recover this result.
